Artist's statement
My works are experimental in nature and I like to experiment with varied mediums.
I am constantly searching for newness through wandering and observing. the wandering of the physical being must be accompanied by the wandering of the gaze. As the gaze settles on something a dialogue is initiated that may reveal new insights into the object, its surroundings as well as inner self of the observer.
I take elements from my surroundings and place them in a tactile space. My artwork then becomes an abstraction for the interplay of an entity and its context. I create a textured space often with lines and marks that symbolise the infinite casual connections that make-up the microcosm of life. it is quite like interlaced threads that render a fabric.
Being from a family of weavers, the handloom workers, thread, fabric and weave are an integral part of my compositions.
